Crows Rocks
A significant group of rocks, sometimes also called Krkavčí skály (Ravens Rocks), is near Horní sedlo (Upper Saddle) in the forest above Krásný důl (Fine Mine). Those are hard sandstone rocks. The whole group is divided by a deep shaft into two practically parallel lines. The easiest way to get to them is from the south following the green tourist trail.
The access to the place under Šachtové věže (Shaft Towers) is also easy, and there are nice views. Hrádek nad nisou, Žitava, Popov Cliffs as well as Hvozd can be seen. On the right hand side there are two peaks of Šachtové věže and farther away from them, there is Hruška (Pear Rock) with two peaks. Krkavčí hnízdo (Raven Nest) is far left in the line of the southeast rocks. Fellerova věž (Feller Tower) is the dominant rock in the line of the northwest rocks, and at the western end is Krkavec (Raven).
Vraní skály (Crows Rocks) are a significant climbing spot. The climbing routes to Fellerova věž are very valued. It was named after Theodor Feller a professor from Zittau, a tourist and a mountain lover. He with his colleagues ascended the peak with a rope ladder as early as 1894. The rock was climbed for the first time ten years later. Soon after that, it started to be sought-after by rock climbers. The tower challenged to seek new routes and in first 15 years of climbing it there were 461 records in the summit-book. The ascend of Fellerova věž is well-respected even today.
