Sieniawka
The village lies on the Lusatian Nisa river and it was first mentioned in the 14th century. It neighbours with Žitava (Zittau) and this fact is the reason of quite a turbulent history of the village.
Prior to WWII there were fortified barracks and a training centre. The WWII war prisoners were brought here to work on manufacturing of explosives, V1 and V2 rockets and aircraft parts.
During 50´s and 60´s former barracks housed Turow power plant builders. The psychiatric hospital is situated here these days.
Worth seeing is the 17th century church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. A medieval reconciliation cross is to be found in the cemetery wall.
