The history of the village goes back to the 14th century and its former names can be translated as the village lying by the river (Poratsch, Poriczsch). A railroad between Žitava (Zittau) and Liberec was built across the village in the 60´s of the 19th century. During WWI the war camp with French and Russian prisoners was situated here. The local church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was reinstated in 1984.
